On July 8, the COMECOCO2 consortium held its periodic project meeting hosted by Eurecat and AMES. The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to review the project advances, exchange ideas and coordinate the future steps. The technical discussions were complemented by tours of the research and production facilities of the host organizations.
Many thanks to Eurecat and AMES for their warm hospitality and excellent organization, and to all COMECOCO2 partners for the productive discussions and continued collaboration! Looking forward to the next milestones together!
From 30 June to 3 July, our COMECOCO2 partners participated in the European Electrolysis and Fuel Cells Forum 2026 (EFCF20206) held in Lucerne (Switzerland), where they delivered the following presentations:
- Paz Cumia Espinosa de los Monteros (Nano4Energy): Scalable PVD fabrication of dense YSZ electrolytes and GDC barrier layers for advanced SOC architectures
- Gonzalo Jiménez Martín (CENER): Advances in the production of low-carbon methanol for transportation via solid oxide coelectrolysis: feasibility results from the COMECOCO2 project
- Joaquin Mora (GreenGrouping): Microtubular Solid Oxide Fuel Cells systems powered by liquefied petroleum gas for portable applications
- Joaquin Mora (GreenGrouping): Development and Integration of Solid Oxide Fuel Cells into Green Hydrogen-Based Microgrids
- Jhoan Tellez (INMA): Study of La4BaCu4NiO13±δ as air electrode for planar solid oxide cells
- Vladislav Kolotygin (IREC): Symmetric cells with Sr2Fe1.5Mo0.5O6-δ-based electrodes for Power-to-Gas and Power-to-Liquid applications
These contributions highlight significant advances in the development of materials and complete devices for electrolysis and co-electrolysis applications, CO₂ valorization, and e-fuel production.
New publication on electrolysis and gasification
Our partner from AESA, Jaume Roqueta, has published the article “La electrólisis y la gasification en la transición energética” in the journal “Energetica”.
The article discusses the crucial role of electrolysis and gasification technologies in the energy transition, highlighting their potential for the production of renewable hydrogen, the valorization of CO₂ and biomass-derived resources, and the development of sustainable e-fuels and low-carbon energy systems.
Congratulations to Jaume and the AESA team for contributing to the dissemination of these key technologies for a more sustainable energy future!
COMECOCO2 Consortium Meeting – Month 12
The third in-person meeting of the COMECOCO2 project was hosted by Nano4Energy, bringing together partners from across the consortium to review the progress achieved during the first year of the project and align the next technical milestones.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the latest developments across the different technology areas, exchange ideas and strengthen collaboration between partners.
Participants also had the opportunity to learn more about Nano4Energy’s facilities and expertise in advanced thin-film deposition and HiPIMS technologies, which are directly relevant to the development of COMECOCO2 components.
Many thanks to Nano4Energy for hosting the meeting, and to all partners for their active participation and continued commitment to the project.

COMECOCO2 Consortium Meeting – Month 6
The second COMECOCO2 consortium meeting took place at Lurederra Technology Centre in Los Arcos, Navarra, bringing together the project partners to present the progress achieved during the first six months of the project.
The first months of COMECOCO2 have been marked by intense activity across all work areas, with partners advancing the different technical activities and working towards the project’s objectives. The meeting provided an opportunity to share the main results achieved so far, exchange ideas and coordinate the next steps in a highly collaborative and constructive atmosphere.
During the meeting, participants also had the opportunity to visit Lurederra’s facilities and laboratories and learn more about its expertise and capabilities in nanotechnology and advanced materials.
Many thanks to Lurederra for the excellent organisation and hospitality, and to all partners for their active participation, progress and productive discussions.

COMECOCO2 Kick-off Meeting
The COMECOCO2 Kick-off Meeting took place at the facilities of IREC and UPC, bringing together all project partners for the first time.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the partners to get to know each other, present their respective expertise and capabilities, and establish a common vision for the objectives, challenges and main areas of work of COMECOCO2. The working sessions also helped define the coordination of activities and establish the foundations for close collaboration throughout the project.
Participants also had the opportunity to visit IREC’s laboratories and facilities, gaining first-hand insight into some of the research capabilities that will contribute to the development of COMECOCO2 technologies.
Many thanks to IREC and UPC for their excellent organization and hospitality, and to all partners for their active participation and productive discussions.
The project started with a strong spirit of collaboration and enthusiasm, which we look forward to maintaining and strengthening throughout its development.
